Fractal Picture and Katara Studios joined forces to bring to life LA’EEB, the standout mascot for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. LA’EEB made a remarkable animated debut alongside Grammy-winning music producer RED ONE in “Mascot Verse” at the FIFA draw, a huge success. The collaborative team was responsible for producing all five episodes, and LA’EEB, along with the Mascot-Verse companions, have emerged as a significant source of pride during the tournament, captivating viewers as some of the most-watched characters on screen this year.
La’eeb’s magic was captured in all formats. From the grandeur of a water screen projection on Doha’s Corniche to the dynamic 3D LED billboard on Lusail Boulevard, the beloved mascot became an iconic presence. The in-stadium “La’eeb Hype Show” transformed fans into active participants, as the mascot emerged from a parallel universe. Additionally, Qatar Airways passengers were greeted by La’eeb in a dedicated safety video

The project also included a grand Water Screen Projection film with La’eeb, a captivating display on the Qatar corniche. Additionally, a dynamic 3D LED Digital Billboard film was produced for Lusail Boulevard, often considered the Doha counterpart to Times Square. Fractal Picture’s involvement extended to the creation of the “La’eeb Hype Show,” an engaging in-stadium installation. This interactive experience featured La’eeb, whose name signifies “Super-Skilled-Player,” as he emerged from a parallel Mascot-Verse to interact with fans entering the stadium, making it an inclusive and immersive encounter for all.
The scope of work included visual development for characters and environments, storyboarding, asset build, animation, and final color production.
